Just in time for brighter days, Ace & Tate has unveiled its inaugural collection in collaboration with the award-winning brand Ahluwalia.

Expanding on Ahluwalia’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection “Acknowledgements,” this eyewear collaboration pays tribute to deserving artists of the diaspora who have yet to receive their due recognition. “We were captivated by the patterns Priya designed for her collection and incorporated them into our Mirko and Niku frames. We are incredibly excited and proud to launch this collaboration with Ahluwalia,” shares Torunn Gullaksen, Head of Design at Ace & Tate, in an exclusive press release.

The vibrant Mirko and Niku frames celebrate overlooked creatives with abstract floral motifs, resulting in thoughtful and dynamic designs. “For this collaboration, I infused our signature style, experimenting with layered prints and textured acetate, resulting in a unique visual tapestry. The journey from concept to production was enjoyable and inspiring, and I can’t wait to see people wearing the sunglasses,” adds creative director Priya Ahluwalia. The Mirko style features an angular shape and comes in a lively pink colorway with a speckled print, drawing inspiration from Algerian artist Baya Mahieddine. Mirko also offers a classic tortoiseshell frame and blue lenses, providing a more subdued option. On closer inspection, the interior reveals a playful pattern reminiscent of a sunset. Meanwhile, the Niku sunglasses sport a rectangular silhouette and are adorned with the Aurat and Valaida motif. A bold “A” is incorporated into the legs of the glasses for added flair. Brown and white leaves are scattered across black frames, outlining purple lenses. Elsewhere, deep cobalt waves flow across a clear blue backdrop, complementing the lightly tinted opticals.

The collaboration will be available from March 21 at the Ace & Tate Hanbury store as well as online, with prices starting at $150 USD and £130 GBP.
