Prepare for a trio of Kobe releases coming your way very soon. On April 13th, Nike will be dropping three different Protros of iconic Kobe sneakers from different eras: the Kobe 8 “Venice Beach,” the Kobe 6 “Italian Camo,” and the Kobe 4 “Philly.”
Why April 13th? Well, that marks the anniversary of Kobe Bryant’s final NBA game. On this day in 2016, Kobe concluded his illustrious career with a remarkable performance, scoring 60 points in a memorable victory against the Utah Jazz. Who could forget the iconic “Mamba out” sign-off at the end of his farewell speech? In honor of this significant moment, we’re dubbing this trio of releases the “Mamba Out” pack.
While we’ve already delved into the stories behind the Venice Beach and Italian Camo iterations, today we’re shining the spotlight on the “Philly” Kobe 4 Protro. Originally released in 2009 as a homage to Kobe Bryant’s hometown of Philadelphia, this colorway features a striking blue, white, and red palette inspired by the Philadelphia 76ers. Interestingly, this was the team that Kobe’s father, Joe Bryant, played for in the 1970s. Special details of this edition include star decals on the ankle collars and Kobe Bryant’s birth date printed on the insoles.
The Nike Kobe 4 Protro “Philly” is scheduled to hit shelves on April 13th via SNKRS and select retailers. Take a look at the official images below.
