In 2014, the fashion world warmly welcomed the first Spezial collection. Now, in 2024, we celebrate its decade. Gary Aspden and the three stripes, marking this significant milestone, guide us through the past, present, and future of the brand – their latest collection retells the eternal story of adidas’ design DNA, reimagined.
This chapter, the first in a range that will continue throughout the year, comes to life in a campaign featuring actor and musician Ashley Walters (Top Boy, Bulletproof).

The footwear offering comprises seven unique models. Leading the pack, the Gazelle SPZL from the 2023 fall-winter collection returns in two versions: one in an all-black suede upper (a nod to the Pulsebeat SPZL), and the other in a chalk-white upper with subtly contrasting white stripes.
Next, we have three new additions to the Spezial family. The Whitworth SPZL draws inspiration from various 80s running models. Then, the Handball Pro SPZL references the upper of a lesser-known handball silhouette discovered by Gary Aspden. Rounding off the entirely new models is the Moston Super SPZL, inspired by the adidas Artic from the mid-70s, boasting a suede, green upper with bold green stripes and contrasting stitching.
The footwear selection concludes with the return of two classic Spezial silhouettes. First released in 2017, the iconic Wensley SPZL features an asymmetrical upper with nylon inserts and suede overlays. In honor of the brand’s 10th anniversary, the silhouette receives a new colorway in light brown and an updated tongue with subdued padding.
