Studio Nicholson Fall 2024: A Modern Take on Classic Styles

Focus on Fabrics: The Essence of Studio Nicholson

Nick Wakeman, founder and creative director of Studio Nicholson, places a significant emphasis on fabrics in the Fall 2024 collection. “Anyone can style something, but how does the clothing make you feel?” she asks rhetorically. This question guided the entire creative process. “Each fabric needed to have its unique properties. Is it spongy, shiny, textured, noisy?” Wakeman drew inspiration from the ’90s, particularly from Japanese fabrics and the styles of Comme des Garçons and Yohji Yamamoto.

Urban Backdrop: Stockholm's Influence

The campaign, shot in Stockholm, leverages the city's urban texture, brutalist architecture, and intriguing windows as a backdrop for the collection. "We are not a minimalist brand. It's about perfecting and modernizing the classics," emphasizes Wakeman. The collection also debuts a line of leather bags that perfectly complement Studio Nicholson's style.

Key Pieces and Fabrics: A Unique Approach

A standout feature of the ready-to-wear collection is the British, lightweight tropical wool, which is wrinkle-resistant and breathable. It's ideal for creating Studio Nicholson's signature, casual tailoring, including soft blazers with patch pockets and pleated trousers.

Women's Collection Highlights

The women's collection is distinguished by sporty elements crafted from polyester with a spongy finish, such as the Idro sweater, Moura pants, and the knitted Mata. A linen-like textured fabric, sourced exclusively from Japan, adds fluidity to garments like the Wilton shirt, Dordoni pants, and Barr dress.

Color Palette: Embracing Fall's Hues

The color palette for Fall 2024 includes navy, asphalt, black grape, grey ivory, and caramel. These hues reflect the season's mood and enhance the collection's sophisticated yet modern aesthetic.
